Our Engagement Shoot

It's been over two months of marriage, but I’m just now getting the chance to write about our experience with Goldensun Photography for our engagement shoot.
I was scrolling through Instagram and saw that a photographer in Southern California was having an engagement shoot give away! I entered their giveaway and was notified that we won in December 2019! Simon and I were actually not even engaged at the time, but we had booked our venue Hudson Loft for a wedding in September 2020. I asked if Molly would be okay with having the shoot after I was engaged which I was hoping to be by the end of February 2020. Molly was so kind and flexible throughout the scheduling process and worked with the inspiration that I had in mind for our engagement photos.
As Simon and I decided to postpone our big wedding to January due to COVID, and have a smaller immediate family only wedding we also had to reschedule our engagement shoot very last minute. We ended up shooting the weekend before our Summer wedding!
I had my hair and makeup done by Deborah from Beautifully Redeemedd and she KILLED the look! Simon and I moved all our stuff into our new apartment the same night and when I went to take off my makeup at 1AM the next day my face still looked FLAWLESS! (If anyone needs a hair or makeup artist for an event I will 100% highly recommend Beautifully Redeemedd!!).
We decided on Noguchi garden as our venue to have a very minimalist modern vibe to our shoot. Molly was kind enough to direct and stage our first look as we planned on getting married in an air-b-n-b backyard and would not have a good space to capture the first look. I wore a dress ordered off of Lulus so I could save my wedding dress from LeeHwa for the big wedding! LeeHwa was so kind to rent me a veil and hair pin for the engagement shoot.

Molly’s creative eye captured such amazing photos! I had thought that since this was a giveaway shoot she may not prioritize us as much, but I could not be so wrong. Molly went above and beyond for us. From the beginning to the end she was so understanding and encouraging. What I particularly appreciated was that she asked us which side as our “good” side, and worked with that. The attention to detail and the different ways she used the simple space to create new settings were very impressive. She expedited our photos and had them edited and organized for us the next day! I honestly feel like Molly perfectly captured the chic vibe I wanted for our engagement photos! Thank you so much Molly~ we’ve received so many compliments on your photos!
